2018 EGGstravaganza Parade!

Updated: Jan 20, 2019

Blame it on brainstorming at a board meeting. That's where the idea of having a garden parade entry was born. Besides the groundwork of a start-up nonprofit. Besides designing a club logo and Kickoff flyers. And besides preparing new member packets, the Gaylord Garden Club board was unanimous in vote and voice that entering the local EGGstravaganza parade (annual town celebration) would bring much wanted visibility to our newly-formed club and did it ever!

And it was F U N!

I knew it was going to be fun the second I saw Angie's adirondack chairs on the flat-bed trailer blooming with classic red Geraniums and a Gaylord Garden Club sign on the back. It set the scene for a relaxing, fun day as we decorated the flat-bed, chairs, and our hair with exotic-looking leis. It was fun having Mary Jo's daughter and grandson join the parade with a spankin' new sportscar.

It was fun taking surprise shots of Steph and Angie and practicing a synchronized wave on the way to parade line-up. It was fun cheering on other parade entries who went before us.

During the parade, it was fun watching Steph's son, Quentin, hurl candy from the float. That little guy has an arm! It was fun watching Angie's enthusiasm throughout the parade not wanting to exclude anyone, and it was fun throwing candy to kids who looked left out.

It was fun seeing the family support along the parade route and it was especially fun waving to the elderly in the crowd and having their wide grin match your own. Sign me up for year! #EGGstravaganza, #EGGstravaganzaparade, #gaylordparade, #GaylordGardenClub
